how can you tell if NCQ is enabled?
My mobo seems to support three sata options; ide, raid, and ahci. I have a raid array set up so I had to select raid to build the array in the first place. I notice wikipedia says that NCQ seems to be a feature of ahci, but I though they were different and that ahci was a subset of raid specification.

NCQ is predominently used by SATA II not ide ATA type drives. The board manufacturer's support site if not in the user manual may have some information about the setting in the bios. AHCI is a hardware mechanism that lets software talk to SATA drives and manages data movement between the drive and RAM.

ah, the link says NCQ is enabled by enabling RAID or AHCI mode. Thanks PC eye.
