necessary programs?

sorry if this is in the wrong place but I have 49 processes running at idle and I know that it is a lot and it seems to slow my already primitive contraption. So here is a screenshot of the task manager, which processes are necessary and what do they do? how could I keep the un necessary ones from starting at start up?

try this...GOTO Start/Run. Then type in 'msconfig' then goto the startup tab. Uncheck any of the boxes that look unnecessary. Only keep ones that look like important system processes.
