Need A Fix For Nvidia Geforce 6200 And My Computer

Hi, I need help, because I just bought the geforce 6200 from nvidia and I have a 775i65GV from asrock as my motherboard.
But I have a big problem, whenever I run or try to play any type of video or when I try to run any related video-player application, my computer freezes or actually the player itself freezes completely ( also if I try to stream a video within internet explorer with windows media player as the player, internet explorer freezes completely aswell ), so much that if I do not have the taskmanager open I would have to hard-reset my computer in order to solve the problem.
I am trying to find a complete solution for this my problem, but I am not able to find it in any forum.
One solution that I found for this was only to slow down my video-hardware-acceleration whenever I was going to see a movie, but that is actually useless and frustrating, mostly because when you need to play a game, you need to set up again the hardware to its most acceleration, to play the game and then if you want to see a movie, switch it back into the slower acceleration. So it is not a complete solution.
Also I saw that my motherboard seems not to support this model of nvidia card.

So, please can anyone help me, either to find a complete solution or to let me know that actually I made a mistake in buying this video card, because my motherboard does not supports it at all.

cheers

If it fit into the expansion slot your motherboard supports the card. Do you have the latest nvidia drivers installed? Not from the CD, but from it's website. Is your WMP codec set up to date? Try Using VLC to see if you still have that problem. Oh and post specs of your PC. :)

yes, that is correct, the slot from my motherboard is for agp 8x cards ( agi x8 from asrock terms ), though in the asrock website, there is a chart of supported and compatible video cards for the motherboard that I have, and the geforce 6200 is not on the list, nevertheless it always a agp x8.

I have the latest version of drivers for the card and also downloaded those from the nvidia site, though I am having the same problem.

my pc is pentium 4, 2.66 ghz, windows sp2, 1.00 gb ram, and just recently bought the geforce 6200 from nvidiaas the video card. mother board 775i65GV

Well it's obviously not a under-powered PC problem. Have you tried VLC? It's important to rule out the WMP codecs being the problem. If that didn't work, check the event viewer to see if there are any relative errors. Right click My computer < manage < event viewer. Check both application and system logs.

by default under control panel- display- tools- advanced - solutions- hardware acceleration, you have the highest and recomended hardware acceleration for your video card, so when I slow that down into the 3rd row, all video applications work fine.
But if I have that in its normal setting all the video apllications such as quicktime, nero, powerdvd, wmp, freezes completely whenver i open them and try to play something with them.
So actually I don´t know if installing vlc will actually solve the problem.

I also saw on event viewer under computermanagment, and there is a conflict between wmp or the used player application with nvidia drivers

also I tried to see if perhaps I needed to stop or start any service under services in computer managment, thought all seems to be normal and running

please advise
thank you

i am thinking, that it may be some codec misconfiguration or something similar,
but I have reinstalled direct x9 and also I have reinstalled the nvidia latest drivers from nvidia´s website, but the problem persists

I have already tried to roll back, nevertheless it is not working and actually I am givin up
do not know what to do
but thanks anyway
