hey my friend has a good gaming rig but BF2 lags...
i guessed its the GPU..
can someone find me a really good GPU under $200

i say wait for the 8600. thats what i'm doing. i think its coming out in a month or 2, not all too long to wait.
 
As long as you don't do any video editing or high res gaming then alot of ram isn't that beneficial.. you can't judge a video card by the size of it's RAM! More important are it's speeds, core/mem, pipes/ROP's.. whatever they're called these days, bandwidth, etc. Remember that and you'll be fine.
 
It's not that 512mb of RAM isn't better then 256mb, it's just that the 7900 GS's performance capabilities don't dictate the need for more then 256mb. It would be like cramming 4GB of RAM into your computer, you can do it, but you'll almost certainly never need it. You'll be fine with 256mb of RAM on a mid range card. If the 7950GT is a little too expensive and you want something more then the 7900GS you could find an overclocked 7900GS with 256mb for cheaper or they do also make a 7900GT. With that said extra RAM will not hurt anything and the 7900GS is a great card for what you pay for it. I think you'll be happy with any of these cards when you consider the price. Keep in mind all of these cards will want about 400-500 watts too.
