Need a good cheap video card that is better than a 9600M GS

im looking to buy a videocard thats better than a laptop 9600M GS. i heard the 9600gs is equivalent to a 8600gt. So i need something that's better than a 8600GT or even equivalent. i need a cheap one. im not looking to spend over $100.

Just need one that's good for photoshop, light video editing and light gaming, like Wow on max graphics (yes my 9600m GS can run WoW on max graphics with 30fps)

So ya, im actually looking to spend around $50, i hope it goes that cheap. but my maximum will be $100. but like i said i would like one that is suited for light gaming and photo/video editing, just need something that is equivalent or better than a 8600GT

A GTS450 or a radeon 5770 may be the better choices in the price range, i think the radeon may be cheaper however, just will need to be certain the PSU can drive the cards.
 
You could try a GTS450 or a Radeon 5770, but if you do then you are relying on the deal the rebate has. Some of them are tempting at the moment, saving you around 10-40$ respectively. You didn't specify one thing and that was if this is for a desktop or laptop? You mentioned a laptop gpu so I just wondered what you're planning to do. Options are a bit more limiting if you are wanting to replace a laptop gpu, as generally the parts are proprietary and you will have to do some searching to find laptop gpu's as they are less common than desktop gpu's.

thanks for your suggestions. however, i'm not actually looking for a mid-high end video card like the 5770 or the 450 gts for 2 reasons. I dont want to spend over $100 and i don't need something that powerful. Also, the cheapest 5770 is $120 on the canadian newegg website.

This will be for a desktop computer. i'm still sad about my laptop :( and this is why im planning to build a desktop, to replace my laptop. And i'd like it to be equivalent or a bit better than my laptop, because my laptop ran everything nicely hehe.

My laptop has the followinf specs:
t9300
4gb ddr2 ram
9600M GS

And so far i am planning to build the following desktop:
AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz $60
4gb DDR3 ram $40

And now i just want a video card that is equivalent or a bit better than a 9600M GS.

Just need one for light gaming.

So i did some research and i found this and it's actually better than a 5770 in some tests

Radeon HD 4830 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131381 for only $60

But the thing is...it's not directx 11.

What i plan to do on the computer is light video editing and gaming. and i'm hoping this card will work for diablo 3 at low settings. but it's not direct x 11. so should i get a directx 11 card?

I am also looking at this for about the same price

Just need a videocard that can run games at low settings and light video editing =) not something too powerful.

What do you guys think? should i get the 4830 or the 5570?
