Get an HP or Acer laptop. I'm getting one or the other soon, probably HP.
Probably Monday because I don't like the PCs that hotels provide @ their so called business cetners. I personally don't like notebooks but I have no other choice but to buy or lease one.

If you do want a Dell, save yourself some $ by buying small, medium or large business and take away features you don't need, like the $190 MS Works that nobody uses, which makes a $700-800 laptop a $500-600 machine. Dell probably cringes every time somebody does this, as that individual copy of Works probably costed them, at most, $1, therefore they make a $189 profit, which they've lost. I would also take away xtended service as it isn't worth it anyways, esp if you know your own way around laptop PCs anyhow. That's minus $50 or so. Then, you don't need the portable speakers ($20) that sound worse than the motherboard speaker. There's a lot you can deduct to make a bloated, expensive machine dirt cheap--and ya still get to keep the dual core processor, the 1 or 2 gigs of RAM, the whole enchilada! I just wish there was a $200 or so discount for no OS systems from Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. as you're really paying for Windows more than you are for the electronic aggregate; Linux users such as me just erase Windows.

@concorde... Dell vostro's ARE business related notebooks, and they start at $500 for the 15 inch screen... Any there is no way to "take away" the extra warranty or ms-office... You have to pay extra for those.. The computer doesn't come with that crap so there is nothing he needs to "take away"

but you can get better specs for a lower price NEW from dell/hp/lenovo... 0.0

I suppose + Ugly cases + Blue screen of death + HELLS I mean DELLS horrible support. Also HP yes. They make good laptops when their priced over 1500$. The guy even though wants smooth internet acess also prob wants a fast logon and get it done pc + vista needs good specs. And for lenovo wtf I never heard of them. + with Apple MAC OS X their hardware can last upto 7 years changing OS and if the dude needs to use win apps grab a copy of xp and use bootcamp/vmware fusion

Are you kidding? You think every dell/hp are ugly compared to an overpriced mac?
In my 7 years of using windows pc's I have received only 1 BSOD and that was my fault by installing too much ram. I have never had any bad customer service with my dell desktop I had for 2 years. Kill Bill - don't make fanboy comments.

You can get an hp notebook with a dual core processor, vista with sp1, 2gb ram, nvidia geforce 8400m graphics, and a special imprint finish for $698 - That will EASILY do what the op needs.

@Kill Bill, you've never heard of lenovo? You really need to read more. They sponsored the 2008 olympics AND own IBM PC. You know, thinkpads? ....

Indeed, the last time I saw a blue screen of death was on Windows ME, which is way over 4 years ago! Dell Vostro's are very nice notebooks indeed :) I am a fan of them. Most users who have an understanding of PCs do not need help and support.

yea, my vostro is amazing! i play counter stirke source on max settings!

I highly doubt that. I had a similar setup (Inspiron 1520, 2GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, 8600M GT, etc, and I could barely play CSS on max settings @ 1440x900.

What kind of FPS are you getting?

By over priced mac to do you mean them macs that dont have hardware failures or the fanboy comments? And by hell I mean Dell good for you, I went through 4 of them and they were hell. As for lenovo of course I know them I just don't trust their products;)
