Need a new copy of Vista!

Hey, I recently got a virus on my Hp Dv6426us laptop and ended up having to erase the recovery partition of my hard drive along with the regular windows partition. I then booted ubuntu, downloaded a copy of vista home premium, and dual booted with that. Now I have a bad copy of vista that I cant register with my serial because it thinks that I have the wrong computer.

What would you guy suggest to getting a new copy of vista that I can register with my existing good serial? I have tried contacting hp many times, and they think all I need to do is run a recovery disk, even though there is nothing to recover...

I just want to be able to update my os and be legal once again! lol

if it is the same version of vista that you previously had on your laptop, you can register it.... as long as the OS hasn't been played around with.

Call windows and ask for a new serial, if that doesn't work, then buy a new copy of vista.

Get ultimate SP1 64 bit version.

But you will also have to reinstall your drivers.

enjoy.

The recovery disks will restore your laptop to it's factory condition. You'll have the original OS, programs and drivers that shipped with the system. Did they not tell you that?

If you don't have the disks, you can buy them from HP.
