Need a new evga card

Still sporting my old 580mhz evga 7600GT 256MB, which is currently OCed to 630MHz clock, 750MHz RAM.

Need to make an upgrade. I'm running an E6600 on a P5B-E that is not SLi supported. Thing only has one PCI-E slot.

I'm running on a budget of like 100-150 max. Looking for something that will outperform my 7600GT on a budget, that I can later turn-in with the step-up program and get a G92 after the price drops when the new line comes out.

Since I work my life away on weekdays, I don't have too much time to research this, but there msut be a few people here who make it their life's work.

I know I can't afford a G92 on this budget, I definately want a G84 though. Would love to find somethign with 96 SP's, but would settle for 64. In my price range it will probably wind up being a 32SP card though =.=. GDDR3 is a must, and 256bit+ preferred.

I'm a huge fan of resellerratings(for hunting), and newegg is my main squeeze. But I will take a look at good deals on sites like tiger, buy, zzf, etc.

At the moment you can find 8800GT (G92) for close to 150$ (with rebates), but if you wait the new line is coming out in like a month, so the price will drop big time.

But if you're really impatient, and don't want to spend a penny over $150, then the 8600GT (G84) is your best bet, but if I were you I'd wait for the 8800GT price to go down.

Op can go far better than the 8600gt with a $150 budget. An e-9600gt Is just below the 8800gt in terms of performance, so it would be possible to wait the full 90 day step up limit keeping watch for best possible "stepup".

9600GT is the way to go if your budget is under $150. I have it and I love it. Can't wait till I get a new mobo and another 9600GT for an SLi setup.

Yeah, unfortunately I do not want XFX, BFG, GIGA, etc. only evga. And i'm uninterested in 192 bit memory. 256bit memory is one of the biggest factors in what I will buy.

I'll probably wind up getting a 9600GT that I could either step-up in the future, or SLi it when I get a new mobo/cpu.

Now I just need to find an inexpensive(note not CHEAP) LCD monitor for gaming ;/

Like I've said many times, you don't just remove that amount then add on the tax. You take the original price, PLUS the tax, then subtract from the rebate. You'd be surprise on how much you actually save.

Doesn't apply to me.... no tax in oregon. sorry man.
