Need a newer pc.

I was thinking of building a new pc. I know anything I build is going to be better than what I am on now. A 1 ghz Duron with 1 gig ram. I am not a gamer so I don't need alot of power. I am a big internet user though and love videos. I am on cable internet so it helps my old system get by. I saw an ad on Tiger Direct so please let me know your opinion. For what I am using it for will I notice the differance from amd 64 verses core 2 duo? Thanks. Could someone please go into depth the differances

That's actually a pretty decent build for the price. However, keep in mind that that is a barebone and has no hard drive, or CPU Fan. But for $380, that's not bad at all.

However, the Core 2 Duo series is much better. Look down in my sig. I just barely built this machine for Christmas and it cost me $415 (minus the sound system--I already had this before hand). It's an ultra-cheap budget build and since you're not into Gaming you could cut out the graphics card to something maybe a little less expensive. You could get that price range right down to $380 like that barebone from TigerDirect and build something even better.

Also, I've had the best luck on Newegg. I'm not dissing on TigerDirect, because I have bought a couple of things from them in the past. I'm just saying that I've usually found better prices on Newegg. You may want to take a look there...

QUITE a difference. If you're making the jump from a low-end Single-core to a mid-range Dual-Core, you're going to be noticing a pretty big jump. Every aspect of everything will run better...even your high-speed internet most likely.

I looked at new egg but didn't see the barebones sys.
I really like this case too. It had a good review.
What would be a good medium grade video card?
