Hey all! Looking to get back into PC games, the only thing I dont have is a good video card. I have a 8800 GTS right now but with my 2560x1600 resolution monitor and the new games, it obviously doesnt work.

I've bee out of the game for a while now and would like some recomendations. Ideally I'd like to spend $200 or less but not more than 300. Let me know if you think anything will fit my needs. I play FPS games and thats about it.

Thanks!

With that resolution, you need a HD7970 or GTX670/GTX680. I would go for the 7970 for the higher memory bandwidth with such a high resolution.

You will not find a acceptable card for modern games at that resolution for less than about $400.

I mean a 660ti will work well at that resolution but yeah, for that you'll probably end up looking at dual 7850's which will run a little over 300 but the performance will be killer, but running crossfire/sli has some issues, if you are sensitive to micro-stutter it may not be fore you and there are some driver issues.

Yeah you need a 670 or a 680 or a 7950 or a 7970 I'm afraid if you want to play at that res. Doubt anything else will really cut it unless you decide to CrossFire or SLI two weaker cards - best to stick to one powerful card though.

If your only looking to spend $200 on a graphics card, then dont worry about gaming at that resolution. Because you probably wont find anything that will do it very well if at all.

Which isnt a problem, because if you ask me 1080p is just fine. While I have not experienced any resolution beyond 1080p (have no monitor to support anything higher), I still think 1080p is perfectly fine to game at.
