okay... i'm building a computer for my dad, who's old ass dell just cut out. he can spend upwards of 700$, and this is NOT a gaming computershould i look on newegg and buy a barebone with an os and some ram?

another thing. my computer is outdated. i'm running an old x800gto agp8x... i wanted to know if i can buy the bareebone, switch the hardware in that with mine, and end up with a duel core and pci-e 16x +7900gt

you could happily give your old man your outdated system as it won't be used for gaming.

I recommend going Core2Duo (as will anyone else)!

can somebody lay out the exact steps i would have to take to get both these computers up and running?

well... the motherboard looks good.. it has onboard grafics tough.. if you want to go for a pci-e motherboard,.. you will need a new processor too.

also, i dont know how mcuh RAM you have,. but you may need extra RAM too (assuming you're going for a motherboard with DDR RAM)
further,.. if your dad isnt gaming... well, you could give him your pc, and build a complete new one yourself.. i dont know what system he has atm.. but if he has a system with an AGP card, you could switch the x800GTO with that card, so the system would consume less power,.. and then most likely you could keep your own PSU, and your dad could use the SPU of his old system (assuming he has one)
