Need advice on purchasing a laptop!

I am looking for a laptop but I have no idea where to start. I don't have a huge budget. Really all I have is a bestbuy credit card for $700 haha. Anyway, if someone could help me I have a lot of questions...

I know I perfer one with these features

-CD/DVD Burner
-1 to 2 GB Ram
-No less than 80GB Hardrive

I need one that can handle video editing ( Adobe Premire ) and photo editing ( Adobe photoshop ).

-What kind of CPU will I need?
-Should I get 1 or 2 GB of ram?
-What features do you recommend?

Also, should I try to build a laptop instead? If so, where can I get parts and what parts should I get? What are the pros and cons of building your own?

I know I am forgetting alot of questions so any advice or tips on buying a laptop and what to look for would be great!

Well preferably not much over $700 dollars. If I buy a $700 laptop when I get more money can I always just upgrade things? And if I do that, what things would I need to upgrade? And would it be worth it?

Upgrading a laptop is iffy at best. Usually your limited to upgrading Ram or using PCMCIA slots to upgrade things like sound card and all.
