My current card is going bad and I've upgraded my mobo for PCI Express. I play a few games and then its just general pc stuff after that. I was told on another forum that SLI is not worth the trouble and to just buy one good card. With so many brand names and different types what would you or anyone on the forum recommend? This is my current set up>
My System
asus AN8 SLI Premium mobo
Amd 64x2 4400+ dual core cpu
enermax 600watt psu
1 BFG 6800GT OC 256 mb pci express
2 gb of Cosair dual channel pc3200
Pri. HD WD 10,000 rpm 74gb sata raptor
Sec > HD WD 7200 rpm 250gb sata
HP DL DVD lightscribe burner
NEC DL DVD burner
Case Aspire Navigator

The card I have now is a used one and didn't last very long. Please help if you can. Thanks

how much you willing to spend?
a 7800gt or a 7800gtx is good. if you can wait the prices might come down b/c the new video cards are comign out.
as for brand it doesnt really matter too much but id stick with the big names like leadteck, XFX, BFG, and EVGA

Thanks for the advice but can you comment on whether its worth using SLI or just one card . I have been looking at the Evga 7800 gt for 300.00 .

no its not really worth using SLI. becuase the new cards will be just as good if not better that using 2 older video cards. so y spend money for 2 cards when you can have one really good one...

i say either have enough money for both at once or do get SLI at all. basically, its not worth getting two older cards but if you want the edge in performance then its worth getting two top of the line cards. get it water cooled, o/c it, and BANG! its the best system at any lan. especially if you get an athlon 64 FX-60! that would be really cool...
im an enthusiast, excuse me. lol

buy 1 new top of the line. Sli is stupid; less performance, more money total spent on cards, more heat, more wires, sli connector,,,, its just not worth it.
