I'm thinking of upgrading my comp for the new upcoming games like fear and stalker and don't know what would yield the best results, upgrading my cpu or my video card first. I have a 2.8 ghz p4 and a radeon 9800 and at some point both will be upgraded to a amd 64 3400 and a 6800 ultra, but which of these two will give me the biggest performance boost before i can add the other.

is it 9800 PRO or just 9800?
if its 9800 then upgrade the video card I would say :)

and btw you would need to buy a new mobo also to change from an intel p4 to an AMD 64 3400+

its a 9800 pro, and yeah i know i would have to get a new mobo, i just need to save up some more money if i do the cpu upgrade.

yea, I would say upgrade the video card... I don't think your going to see a big difference between the P4 2.8 and an AMD 3400...

Well the best to do now is to wait until the games are either released or the requirements are stated.... Then upgrade...

you do realise that you will have to upgrade the motherboard when you get the new cpu, and as such it would be best to get a motherboard with pci-e instead on agp (which your current board is likely to have), thus it is best not to buy your graphics card untill you have the new cpu and motherboard

Thus you will have to update you cpu, motherboard, and video all at once.

A Pentium 4 2.8GHz is a respectable processor. I'd go with the video card upgrade.
You should see a good difference in gaming if you to the 3400+ But like i said you need to up the motherboard and probably get a pci-e gpu as well.
