Yea well let me start out by saying...i know nothing about computers(or laptops) so im going to need you guys to help me decide what kind of laptop i want ......
so basicly im looking for a good laptop that can do everything i need it to and made alittle more and is not 2000+ basicly im goin to college in a few months so i want a laptop i also would like it to be able to play games, video's, and any extra things that might amuse me :D
a bigger screen is a +, and a normal size keybored is a +, and the faster the better. when im on a computer i tend to try to multitask(right now i have like 7 pages of intenet files up, im dling some things, music,a game, aim,and one other useless program i dont need up) so i need something that wont freeze up or take an hour to switch between things ......

So lemme know what you guys think i would find itresting im looking something good thats under like 1900$ that would be the absolute max i would do.. but neways lmk what you think and thankyou for any help

If you're wanting to mulitask you should def. go with an intel core 2 duo, which also uses 28% less power, so your battery life is longer. I know Toshiba and HP offer a lot of laptops with the nVidia Geforece 7600Gs or the 7900GS, which are both decent graphics cards for gaming. Take a look at a few of these for under $2000:

OR if you want to spend 50 more than 2000 to get a better graphics card, then there is this Toshiba... http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=BROWSE&N=200334+4294966923+4294964733+502506+4294966731&Ne=303826&product_code=341724&Pn=Satellite_P105_S9722_Notebook

I work at Compusa, so naturally i went to that site, but if you're wanting to multitask and game look for 2Gb of memory, a core 2 duo, and at least a 7600GS graphics card. hope that helps :D

well the first post kinda helped me im basicly looking for "guidline opinions" what company's to get ive herd alienware and dell as two big ones, i personally dont like dell computer's so im not sure if i would like one of there laptop's-on a side note ive also herd "Vodoo" was a really good company. pricey though ? yea but other then that im looking for what i need in the computer..."if you're wanting to multitask and game look for 2Gb of memory, a core 2 duo, and at least a 7600GS graphics card" -stuff like that .what would be good and what would be overkill and what is useless.... thnx for the help so far guys, flash was the most usefull so far ;)

Edit: been looking around alittle and this is what i need advice on :
prossesor
system drive
memory
grafic's card
wireless network card ?
yea lmk what in there would be the most usefull and what if anything has no effect ?yea again im an idiot XD

i suggest 2gb of ram and a core duo/core 2 duo processor. (1.83ghz or higher, preferably.)
the centrino technology (supported by core processors) will assure you have plenty of battery life, and the ram will allow for all those applications to be open at one time... not to mention, like they say "dual core, do more" lol

get a dell with a 15.4" screen they're real nice and i think the keyboard is normal sized... and some of them come with a really half-way decent graphics processor, for a laptop.
what kind of games you play? just like online games or WoW or what?
CS:S? anything like that?
Sony Vaiao is nice too, if i spelled that right.
