Need an OS for my new rig

gonna be getting a new PC soon fitted with an intel core 2 duo 6600.
i need a new OS.
which do you reccommend, media center 05 or xp pro?

also, on another note, how does the TV work with media center? like, what would i need for it?
anyway. thanks in advance
 
Both are the same as far as speed. I would go with Media Center. You need a TV Tuner card to whatch tv with it however. They are usually around $50.
