NEED Battery care tips!!

Just bought a new computer at the Microsoft store, it's a Samsung SF510-S01CA. I'll be using this computer at home most of the time. It has an integrated battery so it's not something I can unplug when I'm at home. What are some tips or tweaks that'll make the battery last longer even if it's plugged it most of the time?

I've been told by the staff at the store, that the demo computers are plugged in everyday, and the batteries still work completely fine.

They say that these laptops these days have the SMART ion batteries so once it once it is done chargering it will not continue to charge anymore. If that is the case then the only things you would worry about is you battery is only good for so many dis-charging so I guess the more you use in time it will stop holding charges.

Let the battery go through it's natural cycles. When it's full unplug it and use it until it's down to about 20%. Then plug it in and charge it again. Also try not to let it drain completely.

According to Samsung, the battery has up to 1000 charges. Does that mean if I let it go though its natural cycles, after 1000 (dis)charges, it won't hold a good charge any more?

So you can't take out the battery and just plug the laptop in?

Best thing to do is to first adjust your power settings. If all you're doing with it is internet or word processing, you won't need all that power, and it'll save on electricity.

Next thing is to turn it off frequently. Don't leave it turned on all night, especially.

And take all the tips that the people above me have said.

When you are working on the computer and it is charged unplug it.
If the computer is turned off and you have kept it on charging, from what I have read about the modern batteries is after the charge has reached 100% it will stop charging and won't harm the batteries,

Like I mentioned above, the battery'll only hold charges for around 1000 times. I'll be using my computer quite a lot so I'll assume that 1000 times will be used up really soon.

Thank you all for answering!!
Still looking for tips and tricks!

It will hold 1000 charges before it's capacity drops below a certain point. Basically you'll still be able to use the battery, but it's full charge capacity will be drastically lower.

I googled about it once, and it seems that Lithium Ion batteries like to go through a few full charge-discharge cycles when you first use them, but then like to not be discharged to under 20%. Also, I think that it isn't good to not charge them completely.

Just my 2 cents. :)

think your right. over burn and plugged in will boil the battery. its a burn out to leave plugged in constant. not charging at the right time or waiting to long could destroy a battery if to low.

dam i just wished that you could take out the battery pak then there would be nothing to worry about! thanks so much guys :D
