Need computer recomendation quick

Lol hi everybody. I need a computer recommendation very fast. A few days at most. When I'm on the computer. half the time i web browse and half the time I play games. Other times I do homework. People are recommending I get an Amd Athlon. How many Ghertz is 3.2 intel pentium 4 compared to amd athlon. I'm looking for more then 3.4 ghertz athlon. 2 gb ram and nvidia graphics card. dual layer cd and dvd burner. BUt im looking to spend around a 1000. I would not like to build my own. Looking to buy it on cnet or at a store. Plz recomend something for me.

2 things you should know:

1. Athlons dont come over 2.8 Ghz, and that one is $1000. Of course a 2.2 gigahertz AMD will beat a 3.4 Ghz Intel clock for clock. Mhz doesnt mean everything.
2. Its imposible to build, let alone buy something like that for $1000.

A more realistic option would be something like:

An athlon 64 3200+
1 gig of RAM
And a Geforce 6800GT as the base components. Do you need a monitor?

thanks but I don't mind going over 1000
jsut around that range.

Someone told me to build it with someparts that led up to 1000
athlong 3500+ with 512*4 and geforce card. but if i build it and a part breaks. what can i do. buy another one...lol.

and the thing aboutghertz is what i was trying to say. sorry i have to go my brain is off right now. 1am.

The FX is at 2.6 or around there, so if your lucky you could get it. You might be able to also with all these new X2's

I think he might have ment like the athlon thats equal to an intel 3.4

you could get a DFI mobo, a 3000+ cpu, 6800gt, you really don't need 2gb of ram i would suggest 1 gb of like corse air value select, and a case would be about 1000 or less.. i would look at www.newegg.com or www.zipzoomfly.com they both have cheep prices of check prices at www.pricewatch.com.

Parts...ugh...SOme people told me to go to monarchcomputer.com so they can build it for me. But I cant make heads or tails of the site. Van someone help me with it.
