Need error help

Dell inspiron 1526, purchased 2/2008

Power light comes on, nothing else. Shut down by holding power button down, restart, comes on but time/date is set to 11/23/2007.

CMOS battery?

Ran diagnostic: MCMATS failed, "memory compare error DIMM_A"

Is this worth fixing or should I get a new laptop?
 
I don't see a cmos battery going out in 2 years but i guess anything is possible. Try replacing it if you can get access to it.
