my 9 year old son is surfing alot more lately, and was wondering what is the best software for keeping out porn and violence.

Any parental control will do the basic, even the crappiest.
If he's 9 y.o., he wouldnt know how to stop it.

Parental supervision is usually 100% effective, free of charge, and has no installation hassles. It also shows parents actually care and are taking an active interest in what their children are doing online.

You can bet if I had a 9 year old with a computer and an internet connection, I'd be right there over his shoulder, watching every move he made.

Please show how parents who use tracking software care any less about what their kids are doing.

Otherwise, your post was utter crap

Maybe parents don't have time to watch over a kids shoulder every time they go on the internet. Why not have a program do it for them?

Im like ovenmaster with grandkids. im a hawk and dont know if i want to trust the software. never the less i don't think he meant nothing by it. im looking at the software myself. the kids, they are clever.

cheers........

im taking a look at software now. i'll get back later. places like pc world and zdnet may be a good source. big issue for me too..

You're entitled to your opinion.
I'm sure parents who use tracking software "care" to some degree. They prefer to let software do their work for them instead of having an active role in monitoring their children's online activities. If they want to trust a piece of software instead of their own judgment, that's their problem. Glad it's not mine.

If I ever claimed that I "didn't have the time to watch my kids" then I'd be damn sure to find out what's so almighty important that my own kids' education and safety didn't come first in my life... and theirs.

Please note that you won't be able to watch porn on your computer anymore :D.

Back on topic, what is your A-V? Some have built-in parental controls.
