Need hard drive for photo storage

I take alot of photos and have filled up a 250 Gig external drive. I want to get another external drive to store my images on and have been looking at this

The reviews are not great due to some software issues???? I just want to be able to save lots of images and retrieve them for use when I'm ready. Is this any good. Do I have to use the software. My other external drive never used any software....so what's up with that. I dont want it to automatilly back up my files. I just want a drive to add photos to.
 
It should be fine. Just don't use the software included. Just delete it off the drive and just drag & drop your photos onto the drive manually.
