It's time for me to get a new computer, so I figured I go down the route of another custom one, and have someone put it together for me. I just need some help as for what to get to go inside of it
This will be mainly used for gaming, but will have a few basic programs on it such as Word and what not. It's going to be my college computer for the next 4 years. Because I want it to last the 4 years, I figured i'd go with the DX10 GPU. Currently the games I play are not too graphic intensive, but I just don't want to have to do a major upgrade within the next 4 years.
My maximum budget is around $2200-$2400. I should be ordering this computer within the next few weeks. I was initially looking at a laptop, but figured I could get much more for the same price with a desktop computer. For the laptop I was going to go with the Sager NP5790. http://www.xoticpc.com/product_info.php/cPath/51_150/products_id/2023
So i'd like to get the equivalent in a desktop, if not more.
So far this is what I have come up with:
Case: Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775

GPU: ASUS GeForce 8800GTX 768MB

RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

Motherboard: ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX

As for power, I'm not really sure what I should look at.
Any recommendations, or things you guys would change?
