I've been wanting to build one for a long time but I know nothing about doing it. Could you guys give me some tips or references to help. Also im not looking to spend more then 1000(preferablly less). Also if you could give me a basic list of all the components I would need to get to make this run. Thais would mostly be used for gaming if that helps.

if your from the US i suggest you take a look at newegg.com, if yor not take a look at ebay.
Well if your a big gamer i suggest you get a case with good airflow and a mobo that supports AGP. I also would go with a processor no slower than 2.8

The basic components you need to build a desktop computer are, a case, a power supply unit (sometimes these come with the case), a motherboard, a processor (sometimes these come with the motherboard), a hard drive, memory, floppy drive or "A:" drive (not necessary but get one if you need one), CD or DVD drive, a good video/graphics card if you plan on using your computer for gaming, and a sound card (sometimes these are integrated into the motherboard). You will also need an Operating System. You may also consider buying a barebones system too.

You can find these items at these websites:
http://www.newegg.com/
http://www.tigerdirect.com/
http://www.xpcgear.com/
...and some more websites are out there for computer builders. Just go to google and search for one :)
