I will be the first to admit that I don't understand the inner workings of the computer world and I need step by step instructions to get things set up.

I am a very busy person and have spent far too much time trying to understand how to get a new Vista OS laptop wireless laptop set up to print from my printer that is connected to my XP PC.

So what is I need is step by step instructions on what my settings need to be and what I have to do with each computer to get this set up so that I can use my wireless laptop in another room in the house and get it to print from the printer set up on the PC.

My home network is a DSL gateway router to my pc I have the wireless network that is working fine between the two. PC is XP Media Center Addtion 2005.

My wirelss laptop is Vista Home Premium. I really need to get this set up and I hope it is easy. I have tried set up wizard and everytime I think it should work I am back to square one.

Thank-you.

you have to make the printer a shared printer.
to do this:
1.go to your computer that has the printer connected to
2. click start->printer and faxes->right click your printer->select sharing
3. select share this printer -> name the printer however you would like the printer to be called.
4. click apply.
5. now go to your laptop.
6. now this might vary since i have a different version of vista but hopefully you can find it if it does vary.
7. start -> control panel -> printers
8. select add a printer
9. add a network printer.
10. now it should find the printer that is shared.
after that you select that printer and just finish following the steps needed to finish.

now you should have a printer in your printers folder. just dont forget to make that printer your default printer and your all set.
