whats the better card of the two? is the 9600 gpu a better bet? I will not be overclocking the card.

I'd personally go with the 9600GT. I was going to get that one until i realize i had a bigger budget then i thought. seems like a really good card. I like EVGA, though you might want to consiter its the low-end card of the 9 series, while the 8800GS like kind of mid-range of the 8 series.
