This is the PC i'm gonna make:

CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6600 (4 X 2.40GHz) 1066MHz FSB/ 8MB L2 Cache
Ram: 4GB CORSAIR XMS2 800MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (2x2GB)
Motherboard: ASUS® P5N-MX: DDR2, S-ATA II, 1 x PCI-E x16, 2 PCI, etc
OS: 64 BIT WINDOWS® VISTA HOME PREM SP1 (inc CD & Licence)
HDD: 500GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7200rpm)
CD Drive: 20x Dual Layer LightScribe DVD Writer ±R/±RW/RAM
GPU: 512MB GEFORCE 9600GT PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT
Sound card: Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeGamer 7.1
Case Stylish Silver/Black Trident case + 2 front USB
Power supply: 600W Quiet Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan
CPU cooller: ASUS SILENT KNIGHT II PURE COPPER ULTRA COOLER

---

If you had the choice between the following 2 HDDs then which on would you choose and why:

hdd A:
400GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7200rpm)

hdd B:
500GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7200rpm)

'hdd A' is slightly more expensive but only by a few $s

---

Also do you think a 600w power supply is enough to run this or would it be better geting a 700w 1.

---

And finally, which graphics card should I get:
512MB GEFORCE 9600GT or 1024MB GEFORCE 9600GT(which is about 40$ more)?

thx in adv

That 600W psu should work fine for your system, if you had a link or more specifics on it we could tell you for sure.

Both hard drives offer very similar performance, the 32MB cache drive is just a tiny bit faster. Personally, I would just go for the 500GB hd.

As for video card, IMO the 1GB 9600GT version isn't worth the extra $40. The only sizable benefit the 1GB has over the 512MB is if you are running high resolution or have to due to your monitor. Your call there. Both are good cards though.

I agree with Shivan for the GPU, stick with 512mb, it should be plenty unless you have a large monitor.

As for HDD, I would go for 500gb, but I'd spend a little more to get a newer version rather than (I assume) an older 8mb cache. Not sure what the brand of the HDD is, but if its seagate, I'd go for 7200.11 rather than 7200.10 its more energy efficient and quieter.

As for the PSU, a 600watt good quality PSU will run this easily, however a cheap(poor quality) PSU might fail and ruin all this build. We need to know the brand before recommending wattage for a PSU. There are many ways for a PSU to achieve 600W, but not all the ways are good and useful.

As for the soundcard, you should know that for the most part, unless the main purpose of your rig is to run near professionnal music program or sound, you can easily bump that item and save some money. And if at some point you find sound is lacking, adding a sound card isn't that hard. .

The CPU cooler, well you must know that using a cooler that is not supplied with the CPU voids the warranty of the CPU. And although I am far from being very knowledgeable about it, I don't think asus is top brand for CPU cooler.

Finally, are you building it yourself or getting it build, cuz it seems a lot like its the second. In which case, you will end up paying more for it.
