Ok my mom got a new computer a while ago and I reformatted her old one and installed WIN XP. IT worked fine for a while and was fast for an old computer. Then I stored it away for awile and now when I turn it on it beeps and nothing shows on the screen. I took out all the part and blew all the dust out and put them back in and It still does the beeping and doesn't show anything. PLease help me someone.

Its a Gateway Pentium 3 1.0 GHZ with 256MB of PC133 Ram with an ATI graphics card.

I just want to use it as a extra computer.

3 beeps means a 64k memory failure, basically, try taking the RAM out and give it a good clean, get all the dust off it and make sure there's nothing on it, but be carefull, you don't want to damage it.

What length are the beeps, like one long one and then two short ones?

Ok, try taking the RAM out and giving it a clean, if it happens still see if you can try some other RAM of the same type in the computer...

Ok sure, I doubt I'll be on, I've got college today and it's 12:00am so... :P

I'll check later on though :P

Good luck!

ok I tried to clean it and it is still doign the beebing thing. I just noticed that the power supply fan isn't running but all the other case fans are?

Do you have other RAM you can try?
Is it running single or dual channel?
It ran fine before it was stored away, correct?

When you say you "took out all the part", are you sure you put everything back in properly? :P and didn't damage anything?
AKA, static?

But yeah, 3 beeps is memory failure for sure.
So it has something to do with the RAM -.-

Another PSU, if the fan isn't spinning try another one...

Also, becasue it's a memory failure, try some different RAM.

He said all the other case fans are running though.
So it could just be a bad PSU Fan.
Maybe some saftey feature, that it won't start up if the fan isn't running on the PSU to prevent overheating. -.-
I know on my Antec PSU, the fan hardly ever spins, becuase it only goes on when it reaches a certain temp. Same with the case fans... Or else they spin at a lower RPM... But the PSU one shuts off totally, as it states in the manual that it's suppose to.

OK I stoped the beebing and I checked the CPU and it gets hot so its working but I can't get the POWER SUPPLY FAN TO RUN AND NOTHING STILL SHOWS UP ON SCREEN. THE BEEBING SOMETIMES HAPPENS BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. PLZ HELP. ILL POST PICS IF NEEDED
