from the ground up build includes:
700w power supply
e8400
8800gts
gigabyte ep35-ds3p
4 gigs of ballistix

edit:
no fans are working. psu when turned on just makes a light hum. i think the psu is faulty. i double checked everything and it is all connected as it should be.

A faulty stick of ram shouldn't make the entire computer not turn on, but I guess it's worth a try.

@gambino: If possible, put in another PSU and see if the computer boots up. Also, "jump" the PSU by sticking a paper clip in the green and black pin of the 24pin motherboard connector, and then test out individual devices such as fans and such to see if the PSU is putting out any power.

It could, but it's unlikely.

The fans not spinning however, could point to the PSU. do as diduknowthat said and see what happens.

ok. i checked the voltage of the power supply and i am ure that it is giving power and recieving properly. a possible mistake seems that i connected the leds such as power supply, power switch, restart, wrong. im going to give this a try, if it wont work, then im going to play aroung with the ram.

Are the fans spinning now?

If you're motherboard doesn't say like: "RST" "HDLED" "SPKR" "HD" "PWR" or anything like that, refer to your manual (hopefully you bought a RETAIL motherboard).

yes i bought a retail ep35-ds3p, ive set it all up accordingly.

so my result: nothing. i hit the power switch and nothing happens. nothing lights up, nothing spins.
since the power is there, i think the mobo is dead. im going to try to take out the ram now and see if anything jumps to life

so the psu is dead. i plugged it in an throughly investigated. the psu fan is not working. im going to call up newegg on monday and get a replacement.
thanks for all the help guys, hopefully this thing will run at full speed next week!!!
