Ok, so I have SBC Yahoo DSL internet (recently they have changed to AT&T, not sure what they call it now) and im running off a linksys wired router.

The way I have it set up now is like this:

My computer is connected to port one on the router, the router is connected to the modem and my dads computer is connected to port two on the router.

Its working fine but we would like to get rid of all the darn cables!! especially since we might add another computer in the mix to go downstairs for my grandma and aunt to use, so, my questions:

1. What router should I get?
2. do i need to buy the wireless recievers seperatly? i dont understand the wireless systems very well ATM, sorry :o

Im sure i'll think of more questions but cant right at the moment so if i have more i'll post them.

any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
-Mike

step1

you need a wireless router which will still be connected by a cable to your phoneline

step2 your devices you want to connect must be wireless enabled either with a built in wireless network adapter or by purchasing a wireless reciever for each machine

Jus to add on to what the guy before me said

if you already have a modem, inserted of buying both jus buy a wireless router(which ever is cheaper better for you), dlink an linksys are really good brands(I recommend the WBR-1310 http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=1&pid=474, its perfect for normal home use)

but a recommendation for a big house, instead of trying to fill the whole house with wifi, try a Powerline adapter. Putting the wireless router upstairs, an using a Powerline adapter set to the computer downstairs. (basically hooking up the modem, then installing the wireless router, then plugging in the Powerline adapter into the wall, then into a ethernet port in the router, plugging one in downstairs an then that one into the back of the downstairs computer.)

or another great solution to tie these both together is to buy a wifi, powerline router, http://www.amazon.com/NBG-318S-Powerline-HomePlug-802-11g-Wireless/dp/B000VY72PQ

hope this helped, an gave some other options
