I'm going to buy a new notebook for college one of these days, I'm not sure which of the two to get though....

OR

Difference between the two, second has more RAM, bigger hard drive, come with mouse and back pack (Is not that big of a deal...), comes with a 2 year warranty instead of a 1.... Also heard from somewhere the second one is the 2nd generation? Not sure if the rumors are true...:D

I have went with ASUS before, best laptop I have had out of my rich collection... I tried all of them at some point of life so... I don't think I'm going to change my mind :) Unless you can convince me otherwise, sorry won't go for Alienware I think they are over expensive.

Go for 8GB version. Extra 4 GB RAM is not tha significant.
For HDD storage, you can always get a external HDD if it run out. And that would be useful if you want to exchange some files with your friends.

While for warranty, it may worth consider, but i don't expect asus machine breakdown within 2 year

what exactly are you going to be doing with it? Ifits something memory heavy, like video editing, then get the 12 GB version. If its not so memory heavy, like gaming or school work, then get the 8GB model.
They are the same machine, just different specs.

Well I'll be using it for gaming and my computer classes (I'm not really sure what they are going to make us do though xD)

Well the ASUS I have right now started to have issues after a year of "heavy usage" poor thing never got shut down, gaming non stop, etc. Then again it was one of the first ROG laptops, I guess you could say they were prototypes still working out some of the bugs (like the overheating problems... etc.) Right now I can only use to watch a video or something else simple but try to do something more intensive it freezes, blue screens, or just goes completely black... It has to be hardware related because everything is in order, me and my best friend speculate it's the CPU... Oh well can't complain it has served me well....

Yeah I guess I can spend $99 on Newegg for extended 2 year warranty and still save $100 be just as good of deal right?

Oh please, I'm not going to lay awake from not getting a "cool" backpack :D:D I'm totally going to have to buy a case on wheels to get everything in it and able to get around campus... I don't need a ROG backpack as a gadget to be cool XD

Why not use your desktop for gaming and the computer classes, and a basic one for note-taking, internet, etc? Or are you not planning on bringing your desktop? I did all my years and space wasn't a problem.

If I do that I will have to haul it back and forward every weekend which is going to be hard @_@ We would need haul 2 desktops (my husband's desktop xD) I was thinking about that, oh not to mention I have a very annoying schedule where I got a class late in the evening... I would have to wait in the afternoon after homework etc. doing nothing might as well game it up or something....

BTW... back to the laptops I seen best buy has one too

Is this one much different from the one I was going to get? (Which is the cheaper one from Newegg...) From the specs looks it isn't, except bigger hard drive? Maybe less dedicated video memory? (not sure)

Yes, so I got the Best Buy model like I did before... It is an awsome computer except there is one major problem.... I can't get it to fit in my backpack or my old computer case... any suggestions on a case/bag whatever for it? I mean seriously this thing is the "mammoth" of laptops @_@
