Need help finding a computer

Hey everyone.
So my dad needs a computer. He wants one that is going to last awhile so he doesn't need to get one for at least 5 years. He doesn't game.
I've been looking to find one and it seems like all the good computer have a $500 video card. I'm trying to get him a computer for like $1500 without a good video card cause he doesn't need it.
I was thinking an i7 processor and an ssd hd.
Any advice on where to buy would be great.
 
What exactly does he do? A $1500 computer without a video card sounds a little unnecessary. Are you looking to buy something pre-assembled or are you prepared to build it yourself?
 
Just preassembled.
He's willing to spend the money.
He wants to surf, email, download, play solitaire. If he doesn't need a $1500 computer that's fine I just figured get the best of the best.
It needs to be really fast and reliable.

That's kind of a waste when a $250 computer can surf, email, download and play solitaire.

The SSD would be a good call though, but you aren't going to find a prebuilt with one unless you drop significantly more cash than you could build an exactingly similar one for.
 
Yeah its kind of surprising that not many computers come with ssds yet. They provide a significant improvement. Maybe I'll custom build one. I've done one before but it's been along time. I'll check out some parts and make a list.
 
Some of the business-style HP desktops do, my father sells them and they have SSDs as standard now.
