i just swap my x700 pro to my other computer and my x850xt to that computer. i plug in both cards in each computer. went to ati.com to install the driver. reboot. then something pop up saying:

"the caralyst control center is not supported by the driver version of your enebled graphics adapter using the displays manger"

it have this problem on both machines. i tried right clicking the desktop and click adapter.. then advance.. then properties then it says it is enable and working properly. after i tried uninstall the driver then back to ati.com to install driver again but still same problem.

any idea?

You likely downloaded a version of the Catalyst that's simply too new for the older now discontinued models. Certain updates will work with one series of cards while the next are intended for a newer line.

The Catalyst 7.4 information is one that lists the series of card it will run on including the X700s and X800s available at a 3rd party site that still carries drivers/softwares for the older model ATI and NVidia driven cards alike. http://downloads.guru3d.com/Catalyst-7.4-Display-Driver--Windows-XP-download-1617.html

That particular version saw a list of cards supported in the description. When looking at anything newer you won't see that with some intended for Linux even not Windows at the site there.

Since AMD bought out ATI they now offer support for the older model cards. With a quick glance the X700s see an 8.10 Catalyst available for XP Home/Pro at http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp

That would be an option if you end up still seeing problems since the 7.4 seems to be working out you. For the X850 series that also sees an 8.10 likely the exact same at http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp Typically one catalyst covers more then one line of cards.
