Need help. Laptop to TV.

Hello.
I'm new and not sure this is in the right place. If not feel free to move it.

I'm not the most knowledgeable about this stuff and am hopeing you guys can give me some information.

I watch alot of videos on line and was wondering If it would be possible to hook my laptop to a non HD TV to watch them?

I was thinking of useing something like this http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Converter/dp/B001CJOLBW/ref=pd_cp_e_2 to make the connection but after looking around and reading some things I'm not sure if its doable or not.

Will these converters work with older TVs or are they only for new ones? And if it will work would the picture quality be enough for watching videos?

well, I assume you have VGA on your laptop or even S-Video, so use a VGA cable or VGA to S-Video cable to hook it up. your resolution will be forced to go down, though.
