my xfx radeon hd 6950 is failing. plus it's runing way to hot some days , like 60 celcius , not gaming, just watching a video on media player.

I'd like to buy a card of the same power or better but one that I know will last , and one that I know won't run hot.

plus what are some other sugestions on cooling a card. I fell upon something called artic something,

if I buy two cards do they run cooler because 2 are doing the job as 1. and if you do 2 cards do they need to be the exact dublicate of each other, same brand , same specs.

Your xfx should be under warranty correct? No, 2 cards will end up making more heat in your case and that will defeat the purpose.

If you really need to get a new one then either a 7870 or 7950

what should I do to prevent this new card I buy from failing again.
and is it a good idea to stay why the same company radeon

How do you know its failing? 60 degrees C isn't that bad at all. Have you opened the case and used a can of compressed air to blow out the fan or fans?

Never said your card was failing as in crashing, just running hot. Could be a numer of things. Dust in the card cooler/fan. Not enough case cooling, just a bad case or not enough fans or the fans in the wrong place or turned the wrong direction. Failing card fan. Maybe the fan is running to slow. Most of the 6950 I've had idles around in the low 40c, load in the mid 60c.

it's failing because I'm having pixilated issues and it crashes sometimes, start my computer have have two thick white lines run down my screen. and blue screen of death sometimes, regarding driver updates,, but I did all the updates , uninstall and reinstall

Ok. But like I said before, its an XFX card and they usually have a lifetime warranty. Contact them for a replacement.

One more thing though. What is the exact make and model number of your power supply?

The power supply is more than enough for that card and the rest of your system. Just making sure that you had enough power to push the card. I would definately contact XFX for warranty support. Will save you a hunk of change.
