Need help please, for a friend

My buddy just bought Left 4 Dead 2 at best buy.

Every time he attempts to install it from disk it says it will take 1 day and 3 hours.

it pretty much gets to a couple bars then comes to a complete stop.

I've checked firewalls that may be blocking it, and turned off antivirus and windows firewall.. still nothing.

any one that can help out here?

And his computer is decent, an intel core 2 duo, 9800gt, 4 gig ram... so i know that's not it.

try a different dvd/cd drive sounds like maybe its having a tough time reading the disc

is his hard drive full?

Is he downloading it or installing it from the disk?
Try putting the cd key into steam and downloading it through steam. Its slower than installing from a disk but if your disk is broken, its something to try.

If none of the other posts work out,try taking it back to the shop and getting another copy.
