Need help please.... no video

Let just start off saying that i have built computers before but i'm not an expert. I'll list my computer parts

Antec Lanboy case
asus p5n-d motherboard
intel quad core
g skill ddr2 ram- 8gs
antec truepower 1000w
evga gtx 480 video card
western digital raptor 300gb
samsung 1tb harddrive
windows 7 64bit

I had a problem where my computer just shut off an i couldn't turn it back on. so i bought everything brand new except for the video card.... can't afford to buy that again... so i RMA that and the powersupply. so everything is new down to the computer case. Everything turns on but i don't get video to my monitors... i have 2 one is a samsung and the other HP. tried using dvi and the hdmi connections but still nothing. I'm really getting frustrated and i need some help. Anyone one have some suggestions? Thanks!
 
If everything is brand new then it leads me to believe that maybe you didn't use the brass standoffs between the case and motherboard so that you don't short out the motherboard. Did you use these?

I do know that you went way overboard on the power supply though. There is no way you need 1000 watts,
 
I did use the brass stand off and I need that power supply for the video card...it recommends at least 1000watts...its the 1.3g gaming video card.....anything else u suggest? really need help
 
Why in the world would EVGA recommend 1KW for a single GTX 480? That system likely doesn't use over 400W max.
 
don't know why, but thats what they recommend. sounds weird but i just got it anyways. Anyone know how to trouble shoot this problem?
