Need Help plz

I am finally getting my own PC. I want to be able to run games like Empire Total War on high settings with no probs. I am looking at this computer http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Ultra_CrossFireX_8000/detail. I am wanting to spend $8-$900. I do not know much about computers so any help would be appreciated. Follow the link and tell me what you think make some changes if need be. Thanks again.:D

ever think about jus building your own? you can build a pretty killer system w/ $8-900 compared to what that desktop has to offer.

its easy as plug-n-play; we can suggest parts if you like...

and what I dont like about those pre-built ones online is that they dont tell you exactly what brand their puttin in... what does 'major brand?' mean? i have no idea lol actually thought about buyin me one of that site as well but found that custom building it was the way to go. plus ya get to have fun doin so :)

Yeah I am planning on building it I was more or less using it as a guide for how much it might cost. But Yeah any suggestions would be great cause I know nothing about computers. I am trying to educate myself but this crap is confusing lol. Some parts like my ram and hard drive i will get from best buy cause I work there and I get a discount.

if you look through the first few pages there are many people building systems for the same price. i would still recommend going through newegg because my friend works there as well, i believe electronics something and the stuff there was still more expensive than on newegg.com

Well Here are a some things my manager who worked for geek squad suggested. A Geforce gtx 285 graphics card 297.49, a velociraptor harddrive 205.67 my power supply will run me 57.98, 8 gigs of ram will run me about 120. But he didn't suggest what kind of processor and motherboard I would need. But that is like over half what I want to spend and dont I still need the disk drive and other parts. Wouldn't that would put me over my budget?

Here's some core components to consider.

You do not need a GTX 285 to play any game you want btw.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor ($167.99)

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Motherboard ($119.99)

EVGA GTS 250 512MB ($129.99)

CORSAIR 650W Power Supply ($94.49)

yea u dont need a gtx285 for war of empire, and ya say 8gb of ram? so you gonna be runnin a 64x i take it then. and I second Bog's list. unless ya really wanna spend that much on the gtx285

Ok so say I use the parts Bodaggit suggests. I am also planning on a 300g velciraptor hard drive. What ya think?

Ok so if I use what Bodaggit suggest this would be my checklist so far

Motherboard
Processor
Graphics Card
Power Supply
Hard Drive
8g Ram

I am around $800 with these parts, what else do I need?
And thanks for all the help I really appreciate it.

dont forget about the case lol and of course the lil things if ya dont already have them ; mouse, keyboard and such.

btw if ya really want 8gb of ram then make sure to install either a xp 64bit or vista 64bit.

Well yeah I know I need a case lol. And I am not worried about keyboards, mouse, monitor, etc all that is covered. And yes I will be running 64 bit vista or xp which ever I decide I got the hook up on that. So if I add that tower and drive am I set?
