Need help reformatting

I replaced an old computer with a new one and now I would like to reformat my old computer to try to make it usable. My old computer came with windows "ME". I upgraded to "XP. To reformat this computer will I have to use my restore disk that came with my computer to have a clean install, then re-upgrade with my XP disk? Or can I simply install my xp disk again and reformat my computer with that disk?

Ok I got it done thanks for the help. BUT now it tells me that I need to register this copy of windows online within 30 days. Well that computer is not hooked up to the internet and I was hoping to only use it to run programs offline. Do I have to somehow hook it up online in order to keep this copy of windows working?
