Hi All.................I'm am brand new to the forum and not very computer savvy, so bare with me. I tries to restore my Compaq Presario 2105US to it's origianl factory configuration, but I have had no luck. I put in the "Operating System CD" and that worked, but all I got was the operating system.....None of the other factor installed programs are there. As a matter of fact, the only icon on the desktop is the recycle bin.

I figure that the disks I really need to use are the 4 "QuickRestore System Recovery" CD's, but I can't get the to run.

I'm sure the problem is an easy fix for some of you, but I am completely lost...........Please help! Thanks.

I was never a fan of Compaq desktops for the reason that they are not that user friendly, but that is besides the point. You should be able to put in your quick restore cd, at restart your machine. Your computer should recognize the cd and take you through the steps. If there is only a select few applications you want you can just install them directly off of your recovery cds. Sometimes manufactuers will put an application cd in with all your other cds check for that. Hope this helps.

Thats what restoring typically means. In most cases, when people are at the point of using the restore function ... the machine is so trashed that getting the desktop is a major achievement ... additional software isnt a major priority (and im sure the designers thought of that).

If i recall correctly, u WONT be able to get that funky software back but i could be wrong
