Need Help selecting a New Processor

So im going to be building a new computer to keep up with the latest games. Im going with a 7800GT and a SLI motherboard with 1GB of PC3200

What do u suggest i get that would be good for the latest games. Also id like something with Hyper Threading or Hyper Transport

I was thinking about one of these:
AMD Athlon 64 3700 (San Diego)

Now many say AMD 64 is the way to go... Which one would u guys get? or could u suggest something better for cheaper that $300?

The AMD will probably outperform it on everything except multitasking of course
