So im building my first computer and am hooking up an SSD and a 1000gb normal drive. im hooking them both up to the SAT3 slot, there is a sat3 0 and a sat3 1. do i hook the ssd up to the sat3 0 and the other drive to the sat3 1? then also when it comes to powering them, do i start with the first connector from the supply going to the SSD and then move down the chain or do i start at the end of the chain and go backwards?

one thing at a time. Only plug in the SSD and DVD drive (if you are using USB to load the OS, then this is not needed) using SATA3_0 and SATA2 for DVD. Power does not matter. You can plug any port to any section of the chain and it will still work.

Once you load your OS onto the SSD, then you can go back and plug in the HDD (once it is powered off), and get use of both.

Take your pick. It's all up to you. It doesn't make any difference. Just be sure the SSD is the primary HDD.

OK. new question. there is an atx and an atx12v. i have the 24 pin atx plugged in have nothing in the atx12v and it wont power up. the problem is the atx12v is a 4 pin and i have no 4 pins coming from my power supply. there is an 8 pin labled "cpu" coming from power supply and it does fit but 4 pins just hang off the side. im not going to test it without confirmation that thats ok since i dont want to blow my new computer up.

update: everything is running and windows is installing. thanks for all your help forum members, from the parts selection to the installation, i couldnt have done it without you.
