Need help upgrading motherboard

I am thinking about upgrading my motherboard but have no clue to what motherboard yet. I have a Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2 rev:1.0 motherboard at the moment. I have Intel Pentium 4 duel CPU 3.06GHZ, ST3160811AS Hard Drive (not worried about upgrading to different type of ram) .I would like to keep my current hardware and upgrade them at a later stage .

It will be used for gaming (can you also suggest a graphics card as my last one bombed out)

If its running fine, I would not waste your money upgrading to another socket 775. Dead end! Save your money and go for a Newer socket, processor and memory at once.
 
Don't keep LGA 775, get new socket.

phenom II x4 955 + GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 + 2 x 2GB DDR3 RAM ~ $365
Athlon II x4 635 + GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 + 2 x 2GB DDR3 RAM ~ $305

Video card - 5770 / 5830 / 5850/ 5870
