Hello,

I have just acquired a dell dimension 2400 desktop computer and I was wanting some guidance on what graphics card to buy for it. The computer has a celeron processor, 1 gb of ram, and i think it has 3 pci card slots. I was communicating with Dell on some recommendations and they told me I had pci-e slots. I was reading the manual on line and it said just pci.

Anyways, if you guys could provide me with some information, i would greatly appreciate it.

oopps... the first time I went to post after pushing the post thread button, nothing happend. So I pushed stop and retried. That also didn't work. Then I created this on and it posted fine. Sorry :P

Most likely you have two pci slots and one pci-e slot. Most stock prebuilt pc's like dell and hp dont come with more than one pci-e slot.

Theres not much in PCI cards anymore, if you can find them something like a Geforce 6000 seriers or ATI X1500 Series. Or even something like a ATI 9600GT or 9800GT. Like I said if you can still find them.

I have an hp and they are great. Mine was only $550 and i put about $200 into it for the graphics, fans, and psu. The only bad thing about it is it doesnt have sli compatible mobo. If your looking for sli you should probably order one custom online. If your not looking for sli go online to circuitcity, bestbuy (although expensive), ewiz, tigerdirect, and check out some computers.

Welcome to the world of a poor computer!

I had a Dimension 2100 for quite a while. I pretty much hated it (Got it after it died for my grandparents), but it was an improvement over my gateway 2000 :D

Now my custom rig kicks the Dimension's rear and the Dimension is rusting in the basement :D!

As for a new computer, I'd find something on TigerDirect or NewEgg
