Need help with a situation

Hello,

So I'm having trouble with coming up with what I should do. My parents are getting me a computer for college. They're spending about $700 on it. I want to be able to play games, but a gaming laptop would be more expensive than that. So my options would be: to get a laptop, then slowly build a gaming desktop. I'm not sure if this is the best thing to do though. The games I would want to play are: Sims 4 and all the future expansion packs and GTA 5.

So you will be looking to spend $1500 overall?

($600 for laptop and $900 for PC + monitor)

Do you really need laptop?
