Need help with Dell motherboard and CPU compatiblity

I wouldn't waste your time with trying to upgrade That Dell. Besides, the Motherboard is so old you would be hard pressed to find Memory for it anymore. Even if you could, It would be more expensive than newer memory if you can believe it. Also, back then, Dell liked to make stuff Proprietary. That way you had to buy replacement parts FROM DELL.

The Front Panel connectors should have Headers directly to the Motherboard. Depending on the Motherboard, They'll have more or less. USB Front panel connectors usually come in a Block where all the wires are already configured and all you have to do is plug it in, but some Case manufacturers like to make each of the wires individual so you have to read the wire and the book.

Again, unless you're just playing around, You're wasting your time with that Dell. Build a new computer and you'll be happier.

Thank you for answering my question....

I have a fast laptop (Asus Z96J) and I built this computer for my car. Yes my car.

I got the motherboard out of my friends old computer and I was simply asking if I could upgrade the processor. I bought a 512MB PC133 ram for about $20 of ebay so its not like parts are hard to find.

I was simply asking if i could swap in a stronger processor.....I also plan on using an old FX5200 for graphics

The main reason I even chose the combo is because it has a small power supply.

So if anyone else actually has an answer that would be great.

Don't you absolutely hate it when people post flaming crap? We seem to attract a lot of useless folks around here as of late.

In answer to your question, yes, it will support HT.

And for the record, normal DDR will work if you choose to upgrade the RAM - you will not have to order from Dell.

My advice is next time u buy a computer dont buy a cheap dell. Build your own if u have the "know how" or buy one from tigerdirect.com or newegg.com great deals there.
