hey guys, i just got my parts for my computer yesturday but when i put it together im getting a single beep (i dont know if its long or short) but its kinda a funky sounding one, my guess it is long + short or just a single long. also there is no display on the monitor. i have looked in my manual and it says 1 long + 1 short = memory or motherboard failure but i dont know if that is right and if it is which of the two is it? when i have everything pluged in except the memory i get 3 beeps and it reboots. any ideas or suggestions? thanks

here is what im using

2 things come to mind. Make sure you place the ram into the correct slots. Try moving the ram around to every single slot and see if the computer stops beeping. Also, if you bought the exact motherboard there (the open box one) then that might be your problem. Open box could mean that someone opened it and returned it or that someone opened it, used it incorrectly, fried it, and then returned it. Always buy brand new motherboards, ram, video cards, etc.

oh sorry, posted wrong one. no my mother board wasnt open box. none of my stuff was. it was all brand new... i bit my tongue on that part and just ordered everything new for that sake. but yeah, i tested all the slots. i got ahold of a person and i am going to meet up with him tonight. he thinks it might be the memory so hes got a bunch of extra ddr2 and we are ganna see what we can do.
