Need help with ipod

i have a iPod shuffle for my computer and i installed iTunes and the computer will not recognize the device.

no i don't it just immediately says unknown device and i turned on itunes and it doesn't recognize it.

If you don't have any issues with other usb devices then you can assume you have an issue with the ipod or cable.

Ya it's probaly the cable because i tried my brothers ipod on the cable and its not working ether and i also tried it on windows xp and gives me the same results

Try another cable.

I don't know if you had that but my old Ipod came with a CD to install drivers...
