Need help with laptop hdd

Need help
im about to order a 60 gig hdd for my mums laptop and was wondering how i can find out how much the computer can handle.

it should only be dependant on the operating system and the physical dimensions of the disk, and if you're getting a laptop hard drive (2.5 inch) you really have nothing else to worry about, unless she's running something older than xp/2000/me/2003
 
Thanks suprasteve, she is running winodws xp pro
so it should be fine to get a 60 gig depending on the os
