I have the ASUS M5A97 motherboard and also got the Hyper 212 plus heat sink to cool my cpu. I cant seem to figure out how to install this beast. It doesn't to have the correct mounting stuff. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

That's an AMD motherboard you've got there, right? The cooler may have come with a bracket so that it fits correctly onto the AMD board/socket. Have a look in your instruction manual and see if it mentions anything about a bracket.

You must remove the existing bottom plate on the motherboard and use the one that came with cooler. Actually all of the existing mounting hardware will come out and you use the new hardware that came with the cooler.

It is all good, I got it eventually. Everything seems to be working great, I have had the computer on for a while now. The only thing that I am curious about is that when I go into the bios it says there is a CPU fan error. But the CPU temp is not even 40 degrees Celsius and the fan is spinning. Anyone know what could be triggering this error?

I plugged it into the socket labeled CPU_FAN and it is surrounded by two other sockets called PWR_FAN and CHA_FAN2. I don't see anywhere else labeled cpu fan.

And does anyone know of a good CPU monitoring program so I can see the temps.

Core Temp and RealTemp are good, but I think RealTemp only works on Intel processors. Core Temp should work on AMD chips though.
