Need Help With Ram

ok i have a intel p4 2.6
with currenlty 512 ram and i am wishing to upgrade to 2 gig i have bought a pair but i need some help installing it

when i installed the ram it just froze on the boot screen once it had doe its memory test and when i leave it for a few seconds it starts to display lines on the screen randomly they are horizontal.

Check the manual for a section about memory, if there's such a section in your manual. It should say how much RAM you can have per memory slot etc.
 
it can support pc2100/pc2700/pc3200

but it says for "if your ddr modules are not pc2100 compliant, set the ddr sdram clock to 100mhz to ensure system stability"


well my ram modules are pc 3200 so i should try to change it.

Sometimes you can actually find lists of RAM brands that motherboards are compatable with. So, finding one brand that doesn't work with your system isn't that big of a suprise. You mentioned something about underclocking the RAM, so that could be worth a shot. If it still won't work, and the system works fine with old RAM, just try and find another 2 gig pack...
 
so how should i tweak my ram to get it to work it says to set it to 100mhz to ensure system stabability i tryed that and it just froze.
